If you’re from Canada’s West Coast, you’re already interested—because I mentioned “Tofino.” And we all love Tofino out here. Everyone else? Half of you are wondering what a “Tofino” is, the other half are wondering if “Canada’s best surf town” was a typo. (It isn’t.)
The west coast of Vancouver Island—Tofino, Ucluelet and Port Renfrew, along with Pacific Rim National Park and the other misty, sandy, stormy environs that border British Columbia’s open Pacific—is one of my favourite regions on Earth. It’s so breathtakingly beautiful and abundant with life, it astounds with every visit—and I’ve been going since I was a baby.
I’ve posted about Tofino before—search this blog to find some info. But before you do, check out my short video (shot for Explore) below, to see a cool time-lapse flight from Vancouver International Airport South Terminal to the misty runway of Tofino, followed up some some sweet surf and whale footage. Enjoy!
