Special Video Post: Motorcycle Touring in Alberta, Canada

KLR_650_ALBERTA

Join me on a motorcycle tour through Alberta’s historic Kalyna Country, in the northeast corner of the province, for an unforgettable adventure!

In This Video You Will Discover:

  • The Excitement of Dual Sport Motorcycling
  • The Lure of the Prairies
  • Where the Largest Roadside Attractions in the World Are Found
  • What a “Bison Break” Is…

Today was a sad day for me. As the Pacific Northwest is gripped in record-setting cold weather — with daytime temperatures staying below freezing — I decided to put my beloved Kawasaki KLR 650 motorcycle into storage for the winter. It’s a La Nina year, they say, and it’s going to be cold. With a capital “C.” So I’m trading in two wheels for two skis.

Riding to the dealership in negative temperatures made me long for warm summer-day touring in Alberta, where I learned to ride. Ah, 25 to 30 degrees Celsius on an August day, riding the endless roads of Northeastern Alberta with nothing ahead of me but the horizon and nothing behind me but dust… well, sure beats a daytime high of minus four. Man, I need to get on a plane fast.

So this week I’m presenting a Special Video Post that hearkens back to the Dog Days and the simple joys of two wheels, long roads and nothing but time. Enjoy!
